Hello Big House dwellers!

Looking forward to Horace Silver tribute this Thursday at the Jailhouse, great lineup of musicians. And then a little - well quite a lottle actually - of Elgar on Sunday at the Cathedral…

Jazz at The Jailhouse featuring Alex Bondonno's Tribute to Horace Silver

A stellar jazz sextet performs a musical tribute to the jazz composer and pianist, Horace Silver. This legend of Hard Bop and founder of the Jazz Messengers is celebrated by Brighton Jazz Mafia. Pianist Joss Peach takes the role of Silver.

Alex Bondonno (saxes) and Jack Kendon (trumpet) lead the audience through the musical story of Silver's life, his compositions and his interpretations by other iconic performers. This all-star band re-ignites the magic of one of the greatest jazz composers, keeping alive the wonderful music of Silver. Hardened jazz fan or not, this evening will entertain and delight.

Sunday October 25th  7:30 at Arundel Cathedral

Arundel Choral Society presents The Dream Of Gerontius by Edward Elgar

The piece is widely regarded as Elgar's finest choral work, indeed considered by some to be his masterpiece.

In 1865 Cardinal Newman wrote a poem ‘The Dream of Gerontius’ dealing with the questions about afterlife and God. Elgar’s chance to set Gerontius to music came at the age of forty-two with a commission for the 1900 Birmingham Triennial Festival.

CineVic presents The Last Waltz

Remember this? I certainly do. The Band. And just about every musician from the time. 50 years ago, so a little anniversary screening for everyone who remembers it!

Have a lovely week. See you Thursday :-)
